Uganda People’s Defence Forces have confirmed that Masaka Catholic priest Father Deusdedit Ssekabira is in lawful custody, as fears grow over the disappearance of three people, including a mother and her 13-year-old daughter, who were forcibly taken by armed men in separate incidents in Kampala and Masaka. Sarah Nambogo and her minor daughter were abducted in the capital under unclear circumstances, while Father Ssekabira was seized in a related incident in Masaka. In a statement, the UPDF said Father Ssekabira is being held as investigations continue into alleged involvement in subversive activities against the state. The military added that the priest will be produced before a court of law and charged accordingly. Today, believers in Masaka thronged places of worship, offering prayers and seeking divine intervention for the safe return of all those missing, especially Father Ssekabira.
