A section of traders in Nakawa Market has accused the Uganda People’s Defence Forces of engaging in open campaigns for the National Resistance Movement presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni. The concern arose after military personnel appeared for community service at the market, with some in their company dressed in yellow t-shirts bearing President Museveni’s portrait. The Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, Brigadier Abdul Rugumayo, was infuriated when asked about the institution’s stance concerning the engagement of serving personnel in politics.
