The Last King of Scotland is a political drama inspired by real historical events, focusing on the brutal regime of Idi Amin in 1970s Uganda. The story is told through the perspective of a young Scottish doctor who becomes entangled in the dictator’s inner circle.
Nicholas Garrigan arrives in Uganda seeking adventure and purpose. By chance, he meets Idi Amin shortly after Amin seizes power. Charismatic and seemingly approachable, Amin quickly takes a liking to Nicholas and appoints him as his personal physician and advisor.
At first, Nicholas is fascinated by the influence and lifestyle that come with his new position. However, he soon begins to witness the darker side of Amin’s rule—marked by violence, fear, and widespread human rights abuses. As the regime grows increasingly unstable and oppressive, Nicholas realizes he has become trapped in a dangerous situation.
The film explores themes of power, corruption, and moral responsibility, showing how easily one can be seduced by authority and privilege. As Nicholas struggles to reconcile his conscience with his circumstances, he must ultimately find a way to escape.
With intense performances and a gripping narrative, The Last King of Scotland offers a powerful portrayal of dictatorship and the human cost of unchecked power.

You probably wonder how i ended up here… ahh moment
Bumpy Johnson
Being the friend of a dictator can be as dangerous, if not worse, than being his enemy.

Damn, i always read articles like these, never actually imagined that the warlords/dictators could have their feelings hurt by propaganda disinformation 😩🥺🥺
"I did tell you!"
"YOU DID NOT PERSUADE ME"
I'm so stealing that line whenever my gf is right about something and I was being stubborn.
There's no way I'd be working with/for someone like that. No Sir, I don't have a psych degree and you need intensive therapy. I'm out in the first plane, even as a stowaway.
"You did not persuade me!"
"I did"
"But you didn't convince me!"
"I'm out of here. Bye"

I too get in my bros face and ask him "is there something going on here" 😏 and then they always go "no" 😐
I’m stealing that line, yes you told me but you did not PERSUADE me
This was the moment Forest Whitaker became Saw Gerrera
He eventually left Idi Amin to start the X-men
I grew up in the US so I know all about the propaganda the US tried to spread about Idi Amin. I had made friends with a guy from Saudi Arabia and I wanted to know what he thought about the man, given how history played out. He was far too young to know who I was talking about but suggested that we look him up on Wikipedia. We read the adjectives to describe Idi Amin and then he suggested that we go look at the Wikipedia page for Adolf Hitler. Idi Amin had worse adjectives.
trump lol.
Movie?
"They say I'm a madman" Idi said calmly
He is terrifying.
I hate people like this, that will tag everything on this planet for a chance at more views. But won’t put the title of the movie there leaching off of, anywhere immediately visible
Idi Amin was probably the most terrifying man in the whole Africa
